About AgriShield
AgriShield® is the first Canadian platform to offer a 360° vision to assess and manage risks on the farm. This platform guides farmers through 6 families of risks that they may encounter. It also helps to leverage existing risk management tools and professional services offered to farmers. With AgriShield®, producers are be able to put an action plan in place to minimize threats and maximize opportunities for their business.
Below you will find a description of all the main AgriShield features.
Not sure where to start? Complete this simple questionnaire to get a personalized Risk Roadmap to guide your risk assessment.
The Risk Roadmap is an AgriShield feature that guides users through a series of questions in order to evaluate all the main risk categories they are facing, based on the frequency or likelihood of occurrence, and the impact they would have on the farm if/when they occur. Once the questions are answered, the user is provided with a heatmap (see image above) that shows the relevant level of each risk category. This allows the user to focus on the risks that have the highest risk level and therefore the risks that are the most important for the farm.
Agrishield provides a whole farm risk assessment that covers 6 risk families, including People, Finances, Markets, Business Strategy, Business Environment and Production. It might even cover risks you never thought about!
This Risk Assessment feature in AgriShield allows the user to perform a more in-depth assessment of the high-level risk categories for their farms. It not only measures the frequency/likelihood of occurrence of risks and the impact they would have on the farm if/when they occur, but it also allows the user to see which practices are recommended to deal with those risks and to identify which ones they already have in place. Once that has been determined, the user is asked to evaluate their level of preparedness to face each risk situation. All of this information is then compiled in the user’s risk profile (see the Scorecards feature).

The scorecards include the Risk Roadmap, Risk Profile and Sustainability Score. These handy scorecards allow the user to measure their performance at a glance, and more importantly to see what they should focus their attention on in order to improve their situation.
From these scorecards, the user is just one click away from taking action to mitigate risk on their farm.
AgriShield provides you with a list of resources and information to deal with any risk you are facing.
The Information and Resources section provides a wealth of tips, best practices, recommendations and resources to help the user to take action and gain control of risk on their farm. Each risk category has its own factsheet that contains links to organisations and tools that can help to address that type of risk, as well as multimedia presentations and articles that provide more information about ways to mitigate risk.
AgriShield contains hundreds of best practices that can be applied to mitigate risk directly on the farm, all of which are included in this feature.
An action planning tool will help you to put the right resources in place at the right time to manage your risks.
The Action Planning feature is a simple, straightforward planning tool that allows the user to set goals and objectives to mitigate the risks that are important for their farm. The user can select one of the recommended best practices from a drop-down menu or add their own practice to deal with the risks they are facing. This feature also provides the user with the option to assign responsibility and set a timeline for each action to be undertaken. Once the action is completed, it can be marked as “implemented” with one click of a button.
The Action Plan can be printed and shared with others, and the user can decide to only show what has already been done to mitigate risks on the farm, or what actions need to be completed.
By assessing your risks, you’ll also be given a sustainability score which is benchmarked to the international Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA).
This bonus feature adds another assessment component to AgriShield without causing any extra work to the user. As the user completes the different assessments in the platform, they are also evaluated for farm sustainability. AgriShield was benchmarked to the SAI platform Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) and it was discovered that all the sustainability criteria measured in the FSA are also covered in the best practices for risk management that are in the AgriShield platform. Therefore, each time the user indicates that a best practice is in place on the farm, either through the initial farm assessment or by completing actions in the Action Plan feature, points can be attributed towards the farm’s sustainability. The more there are best practices in place on the farm, the higher the sustainability score of the farm.
Not all the best practices in AgriShield count for sustainability points, but when they do, they are clearly marked with the FSA logo. Thanks to this feature, the user can instantly know their FSA sustainability score without completing any extra questionnaires. For an official score from SAI, the farm will need to be audited to confirm the results.
